Ram Navmi Festivities

Puja Thali- Haldi-Kukkum Preparation
Today is a very auspicious day celebrated across India in honor of Lord Ram. It also marks completion of 4 years of knowing my hubby; yes we were engaged around this time 4 years back :) It is spring time in India which means time for mangoes. The markets right now will be flocked with fresh fruits, ripened mangoes and in West India all Maharashtrian ladies host a small get together, almost like a kitty party with a cultural twist to it. Women from surrounding neighborhoods are invited, gifts are exchanged and food oh yes some lovely delicacies are served.
Ripe mango mocktail or kairri che panhe, yellow lentil halwa are traditional dishes that mom used to make. Of course I haven't been able to replicate that but I did make some delicious Sweet Semolina aka Sheera or Suji Halwa
Enjoy this low calorie desert to your heart’s content :)

Here is a pic of the rituals at my mom's place

It symbolizes a beautiful garden for the gods and goddess, abundant with flowers and harvest.
