Veggie Samosas

Veggie Samosas

These are, believe me, extremely tasty and Flavourful.
Although I make them a bit differently than traditional way of making the pastry, this way works just fine, you save tonnes of time and the dish uses very little oil. Yes no need to bring out the deep fryer or filling up a pan with oil.
Make sure to try these!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Medium sized potatoes boiled & mashed
  • ½  Cup boiled peas
  • 1Small Onion finely chopped
  • Thin Pastry Sheets used to make spring rolls or dumplings
  • 1 Tbsp. Ginger & Garlic Paste
  • Spices
    • ½ Tsp. Turmeric Powder
    • 1Tsp. Red Chilli Powder
    • 1Tsp. Coriander Powder
    • ½ Tsp. Cumin Powder
    • Salt to Taste
    • Oil for shallow frying

Method:

  1. In a large bowl mix all the ingredients and mix together
  2. Make sure the potatoes & peas are cooled before adding the spices & onion to them
  3. Take the pastry and spoon out 2-3 Tsps. mixture on one corner of the pastry

  1. The pastry sheets should not be dry so make sure to cover them with a damp cloth and use a nice thin sheet every time
  2. Fold in the sides and roll to close the pastry
  3. You will end up with roughly rectangular shaped Samosas
  4. The important thing is adding enough stuffing to enjoy the samosas
  5. In a pan add about centimetre or ½ inch oil
  6. Oil should be hot. Now add 3-4 samosas at a time
  7. Let them crisp on both sides
  8. Remove on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil. You can store the mixture and just roll out samosas any time you want

Voila!! Samosas are ready in less than 15 minutes
Serve with sliced onions & ketchup or Mint Chutney
