Gulab Jamun for your Sweet Tooth!!

Gulab Jamun
these will melt in your mouth!!

The ultimate desert, perfectly sweet and just melts in your mouth. It’s the “only gulab jamun recipe you will need” I don’t say this but the owner of this recipe Titli Nihaan says this and it is truly the best recipe.

Ingredients:

For the Dough
  • 1Cup Full Fat Milk Powder
  • 4 Tbsps. Plain Flour or Maida
  • 2 Tbsps. Plain Unsalted Butter Melted or Ghee
  • 3 to 4 Tbsps. Of Milk
  • 1Tsp. Baking Soda
  • ½ Cup of oil for frying the gulab jamuns
For the Syrup
  • 2 Cups of Sugar
  • Water to dissolve the sugar approx 2.5 Cups
  • 2-3 Cardamom seeds
  • 1 Tsp. Rose Water (Optional)

Method:
  1. Mix all the ingredients together and form nice soft dough
  2. Keep aside for 5 minutes. If the dough is dry or crumbly add a few tsps. of milk and knead slowly
  3. Divide the dough into small golf size balls. You will be able to make at least 8-10 balls
  4. Add the oil to a pan for deep frying
  5. When the oil is hot drop a small piece of the dough. The dough will not rise to the surface right away. That indicates the oil is ready
  6. Now drop 5-6 balls at a time or more depending on the size of your pan. the balls will sink to the bottom and slowly rise to the surface as seen below.
  7. The balls should turn golden brown from all sides.
  8.
  9. You may need to turn the balls around from time to time with a wooden spoon or stick
  10. Simultaneously start the syrup by adding the sugar, water, cardamom seeds to the pan. Bring it to the boil and let it stand
  11. Decant all the fried balls on a tissue paper
  12. Remove the paper and pour over the syrup slowly
  13. Leave it to stand for 10-15 minutes or until the gulab jamuns soak all the liquid
Enjoy these with ice-cream or just as it is any time you feel like popping something sweet in your mouth
